John sees the “souls” of those killed for the cause of Christ under the altar of God. These persons are martyrs, hence their slain bodies -which have been buried, burned, fed to animals, thrown into the sea, etc. - remain upon the earth. And yet they, as souls, are existing in the presence of God.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given. Contemporary English Version When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of everyone who had been killed for speaking God's message and telling about their faith.

When the fifth seal was opened, John "saw under [at the base of] the altar the souls of those who had been slain" (Revelation ). Because Jesus revealed the meaning of the seven seals when He was on earth, we know that the fifth seal is symbolic of the coming Great Tribulation (Matthew ).

What are the "souls under the altar" mentioned in Revelation. In Revelation is a description of the fifth seal. When Jesus Christ, who is the Revelator (John is not the revelator), opened the seal, the apostle saw in heaven an altar under which were the souls of people who had been slain. They cried to God, asking Him how long it would be until He would judge the world.

under the altar — As the blood of sacrificial victims slain on the altar was poured at the bottom of the altar, so the souls of those sacrificed for Christ‘s testimony are symbolically represented as under the altar, in heaven; for the life or animal soul is in the blood, and blood is often represented as crying for vengeance (Genesis   The people crying out are wearing white robes and are standing under the altar of God.

To be under the altar is to be covered in the blood of the slain Lamb of God. In the seven letters, the ones who have overcome are given white robes (; 18). These souls ask God how long he will wait before avenging their deaths. THE SOULS UNDER THE ALTAR.

Another portion of the Word related to the question of where the departed saints are is Revelation Verse 9 says, “And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and because of the testimony which they held.”.

He was seen when the first seal. Upon the opening of the fifth seal (Rev. ), John “saw under [at the base of] the altar the souls of them that were slain.” Christ had shown the meaning of the seven seals when Souls under the altar book was on earth.

He explained that the fifth seal symbolizes the coming time of Great Tribulation (Matt. ). Revelation King James Version (KJV). 9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth.

The cry of the souls under the altar in Revelation is momentous: “‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’” (vs. 10, NASB) reality that gives rise to this question echoes the theodicy plea of the Old Testament: the “defense of God’s goodness and omnipotence in view of the existence of evil.

Revelation describes a dramatic scene in God’s throne room in heaven: souls under the altar are crying out to God to answer their prayer. We can learn much. The Altar in Heaven “I saw under Souls under the altar book altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the Word of God and the testimony they had maintained.” (Revelation ) John saw the souls of martyrs located under an altar in Heaven when Jesus broke the fifth seal.

The altar mentioned in the fifth seal refers to the bronze Altar of Burnt Offering. The souls under the altar | Revelation & Hebrews Many Christians will be familiar with Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, which book contains a graphic account of the persecution of faithful men and women of God down through the centuries.

Now verses 9 and 10 are coherent. It is the shed blood of the martyrs that is seen "under the altar", not immortal bodiless souls. Just as Abel's blood cries out symbolically for justice to the Lord, so does the blood of the martyrs "under the altar".

So, just what does "under the altar" mean, and where is this altar. For the answers we need to. FIFTH SEAL. (The Souls of Martyrs.) Rev. THE SACRIFICIAL ALTAR (Souls Under the Altar.)"And when He had opened the 'FIFTH SEAL,' I saw under the 'Altar' the SOULS of them that were slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held: and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, Holy and True, dost Thou not judge and avenge our BLOOD on them that dwell on.

Souls Under The Altar Revelation 6 Posted on April 8, by billrandles And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood.

I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. (Revelation ) These souls are referred to as “slain” because hatred is spiritual murder, and they were hated by corrupted Christian spirits who resented them for living a spiritual path in accordance with the Word.

In the book of Revelation it is written, "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained" (Rev NIV) The book of Revelation uses pictorial language to help one understand the "spirit world" an example being Satan being depicted as a "great red dragon" in Revelation 5 th Seal of Revelation – Souls of Martyrs.

Jesus opened the 5 th seal and the souls of martyrs are revealed. Rev And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

Martyrs are those slain for the word of God and for the testimony. Hi Fernando, This is going to be a very serious and important answer, feel free to share with others.

Everyone should understand clearly, what will emerge soon and will impact all lives of all people in the whole world. The blind are leading the b. “Souls under the altar”—a reference to the immortal soul of man.

RevelationUnder the altar souls. Souls under the altar, in biblical Hebraic thought, is another way of saying that when you die, your soul dies too and goes into the grave of the earth or ground along with your body awaiting the resurrection when your body and soul (i.e.

your personality—your mind, will and. Revelation After Christ opens the fifth seal, the apostle John sees "under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held" (verse 9). No galloping horses or deadly riders appear in this seal, and their absence.

Who are the souls under the altar. “And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?” (Revelation10).

Saints these brave and faithful ones have been added to the souls under the altar, and they have lived out their testimony before us, Amen. I have heard some simply ludicrous comments on the souls under the altar over the last few years.

There are people who believe them selves to be above being a part with the souls under the altar. 1 Souls Under the Altar. Revelation The altar When the 5th seal is broken, John looks "underneath the altar" (Revelation ). This is the first time the altar is mentioned by John, but we would have expected it because Jesus, in his letter to Philadelphia mentions "the temple of.

So the souls under the altar are not in a disembodied state in heaven. The Altar of Burnt Offering represents the cross of Christ and the persecution of His believers on earth.

The martyrs only come to life again at the beginning of the millennium (Rev. As was the case with the blood of Abel, the martyrs are depicted as on earth, not in. What are these souls doing under the altar.

Paul says in II Corinthians that, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Paul was teaching that when you are gone from your body, you are in the presence of the Lord.

This was October 22 that year. As you know, Jesus did not return. It was indeed a bitter experience like John's eating the little book r10n. The movement pictured in our passage The interesting point for our discussion of the souls under the altar is that their "loud cry" v10 was for two things: judgment red and punishment of the wicked.

Rev. When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge. Under the altar Our first questions are, Which altar (since there were two involved with the sanctuary).

and why were the souls under it. For several reasons, the altar must be the altar of incense, also called the golden altar. This altar was at the entry into the most holy place, in front of the second veil (Ex.

; ; Lev.19). When the fifth seal is broken, the writer "sees" all of the souls of those martyred because of their testimony assembled "under the altar." One can hardly view this as a literal event, but rather must view it as a symbolic revelation concerning future events in the end times.

It does refer to the souls of the martyrs who are crying out for justice. I'm confused on Bible passage about souls under the altar.

I believe it's in Revelation. I know we do not believe in purgatory or seven years of fire, but would appreciate what. Revelation Context. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell.

The Souls Under the Altar. Screen 1. Let’s pray before beginning this lesson: Lord God, We now wish to continue our study of the seven seals, not only to satisfy our curiosity, but rather to learn how we can better love and serve You.

Today, we will turn our attention to the fifth seal. The meaning however is the same. Now returning to the passage in Revelation, when we read that John says that he: “saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held” what it means is that he saw the persons who had been slain for the Word of God and their testimony.

OUTLINE. One of the thorniest theological-and practical-problems the apostle Paul had to deal with in the Early Church was Israel. In Revelation it is written: And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

What does it mean “under the altar were the souls of them that were slain for the Word of God and the testimony they held.”. The Martyrs Under the Altar – Seal 5 March 4, / Stephanie Dawn When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne.

Some see this altar to be the altar of incense rather than the altar of sacrifice. 7 Yet the location of the martyrs under the altar has more in common with the altar of sacrifice and there is no compelling reason to connect this altar with the altar of incense upon which the prayers of the saints are offered.

It has no place in the proclamation of Gospel Truth.
